I was introduced to golf by Texas A&M Golf Coach and 1956 SW
conference champion Coach Joe Fagan.
I started teaching full time in 2000 with Hank Haney Golf in Austin, Texas, before moving to its headquarters in McKinney in 2004. There, I taught private two- and three-day golf schools, corporate outings, and seminars. I also served as Lead Instructor at the Hank Haney Academy at Westridge for five years.
After leaving Hank Haney, I founded Onplane Golf Academy and became Lead Instructor for the Premier Junior Golf Academy at Los Rios Golf Club.
From 2010 to 2019, I served as Director of Instruction at Los Rios, where I operated the Simon Fagan Golf Academy while continuing to compete.
Today, based in Austin, I bring more than 25 years of teaching experience to private instruction, on-course lessons, and online coaching through Simon Fagan Golf. My online beginner course makes that accessible to beginners and to golfers wherever they live.
From a player’s first swing to preparation for tournament competition, my goal remains the same: provide clear instruction, build confidence, and help golfers enjoy the game while making lasting progress.
THE NEXT LEVEL
In 2009, I developed the Next Level coaching model, combining my experience as a player and coach to help golfers practice with purpose.
It starts with an assessment of your game to identify your strengths, uncover areas for improvement, and determine what to work on first. From there, we build a focused practice plan to turn weaknesses into strengths and help you take your game to the next level.
